Donan Torches Buildings to Demonstrate Investigation Technique
On November 10, 2011, Donan once again, partipated in a controlled, live Burn investigaton. Donan’s fire investigator from Atlanta, John Hill, set two cells ablaze as part of an instructional demonstration for approximately 70 very attentive insurance professionals. The incendiary exhibition took place at the Gwinnett County Fire Department training facility in Dacula, Georgia, where Mr. Hill employed common household items such as 9-volt batteries, automotive brake fluid, steel wool, and pool chemicals to start the fires and illustrate the potential for accidents and arson.
Mr. Hill instructed his audience on fire pattern analysis and evidence preservation, and personally conducted a guided tour of the two on-site fire scenes. Along with Donan's pyrotechnics, the seminar also featured discussions by Fabric Restoration Service Team (FRSTeam), experts in restoring fire-damaged textiles and clothing; Epic Response, a disaster recovery and property restoration firm; and Houseing Headquarters, a nationwide 24-hour emergency relocation service.
The fire investigation demonstration is a typical example of Donan's ongoing effort to educate clients and prospects in the intricacies of forensic engineering.
